Custom 4WD Trailers

 Our custom 4-wheel drive trailers feature self-contained powered walking beams, making them suitable for highway and off-road use. When detached from the tow vehicle it can then be used as a 4-wheel drive self-propelled steerable trailer that is driven at low speeds. Utilizing a hydrostatic drive system, the trailer is remote-controlled and operated like a standard skid steer system. This allows the trailer to access areas typically too small for a tow vehicle and trailer, making it suitable for multiple off-road applications. The trailer’s braking system includes a full capacity air compressor, allowing full use of the air brakes when operating independently of the tow vehicle. Multiple axle and suspension configurations are available depending on the trailer’s application. Multiple centre-to-centre axle distances are also available.

Standard features

• Self-contained powered walking beams:
  • 4-wheel drive hubs (independent drive, not to be engaged when towing).
  • Drive hubs are spline driven (non-friction drive).
  • Either axle can be raised so the walking beam can operate on the lead axle or trailing axle for more maneuverability.
• Drive hubs can be disengaged (free wheel) for road/highway towing.
• Hydraulic or electric power.
• Remote-controlled operation (bypass controls included for emergency use).
• Air brakes.
• 11,340 kg (25,000 lb) capacity spindles.
• Leaf spring or air ride suspension.
